Internships are a real life laboratory within a supportive environment.
As an intern, you have extended opportunities to link theories, concepts and ideas to concrete situations, and to apply what you have learned in the classroom in a work place setting ? while at the same time providing service to the community.
CARE greatly benefits from internship contributions as demonstrated in the following examples:
-Nursing students conduct assessments, provided community health education programs, helped develop clinic policies/procedures, developed new programs, etc.
-Social Work students identify and develop linkages to needed resources; developed resource manual, secured grant funds, research issues, advocacy, etc.
-Anthropology student research helped develop greater understanding of diverse people groups within the community that was used in program planning and service delivery.
-Education students serve as tutors or instructors for children and adult education classes.
-Business majors developed a resource matrix and utilized their skills for assessing CARE?s performance (SWAT) that was used for strategic planning.
Requirements: Attend orientation, submit completed school provided paperwork and comply with all staff policy for specific positions.
